BEING STUDENT AT METU
I am freshman student at METU. Being a student at Metu is so meaningful.
First days of universty almost all student have problems socially
,However,I didnt have. I m so talkative (one of my extreme trait ) open
minded , enterprising people and before I begin Metu ,I have already met
some students of FLE on facebook . I spent time with my them. We tried
to search out Metu’s campus. Everything seemed perfect ,I was
independent ,I go Kızılay without permission of my parents. I said
myself I m so free . but after school started,finished to gallivant ,I
recognized that I was alone at this little dormitory room. I miss my
family,my old friend and even my room , my bed so much. The first days
ou Metu I bought my ticket for vacation .One day I learnt that I had a
Midterm before I came back Metu from my home. I felt so sorry,when I
said it my roommates who are Junior or senior student ,They laughed at
me and said to me “There are many things you ll learn about METU.”
These days, I caviled to cry and After their razz ,I cried at dormitory
WC. Fortunately I talked my teacher with my other friends and she
delayed midterm date. I have broad shoulders at METU. I have a lot of
responsibilities like preparing food myself , staying a place , managing
time and money etc.Academically,I think Metu is one of the best
universities of Turkey. The education language of METU is English. It is
hard for students who arent good at language. METU has the largest
library of Turkey in university base. METU has an Olympic-size swimming
pool, computer center, There are many laboratories in each department.
METU is more satisfactory than I expect. I prefer to go Boğaziçi
universty because it is in İstanbul. And I admire to İstanbul. And my
first universty preferences are 1.Bogaziçi Universty 2.Istanbul
Universty 3.Marmara Universty but later I changed it and choose METU. I
m not regret, but being a student in Istanbul always stays within my
heart and mind. I believe my METU Diploma ll give me a opportunity to
work at my business life in Istanbul. Now, I can say being a student at
METU is really perfect , speciality , different.I m lucky to be here.

My first preference was METU. At the beginning, I didn’t think about its opportunities, and chose it just for its scholarship. As everybody knows scholarship is very important especially for students.Actually, I also wanted to go to Boğaziçi University like Tuğba, and I still want; however, now I am accustomed to the life in METU. First of all, METU has a warm environment. That’s one of my reasons to pick out here. Second, I didn’t trust myself about whether I can manage in Istanbul. No matter what we thought in the beginning, finally we are here and life goes on. The other point Tuğba is talking about is freedom and in my opinion she is perfectly right. :) METU gives you enough freedom you need. For example, unlike in my high school, ın METU I can enter dormitory whenever I want. Furthermore, in METU now I am on my own, and in this way I can learn how to cope with the difficulties I encounter. Consequently, METU prepares us not only for academic life, but also for real life.
